Mcafee Internet Security

Mcafee has been around for a while, some people love it, many people hate it.

Mcafee virus scan is just like any other, it will catch most viruses that are downloaded in email and exe files, yet its ability to find spyware is mediocre at best.
Once your system is infected with a virus, the virus scanning software can become unstable, and may no longer protect your system.

Mcafee firewall is even worse than its virus scan. The firewall tends to block all internet connectivity a lot of the time. This is mainly due to its feature of automatically creating firewall rules for your programs.

For the average computer this program will suffice, as long as you don’t get a virus, or accidentally block your self from the internet.

Another major problem with Mcafee is when a user tries to uninstall the software. When uninstalling the software on a windows XP/2000 computer it tends to damage the winsock settings, and will then require a winsock fix. For the AVG user this is generally a big problem and could cost upwards of $100 US.
