The Fantastic Four
After watching this movie at the cinemas I must say I was quite impressed; however I soon saw this was not the case after reading up one some other reviews on the internet.
Phrases like "sorely lacking in everything" and "just average" were used to describe this great movie! I couldn't believe it.
In my opinion this is one of the greatest comic come movies of all time, way up there with |
the X-Men and Spiderman series.
For those who haven't read the comic book (and I will get to this later) the movie follows the story of Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd), his business partner Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis), his ex-girlfriend geneticist Sue Storm (Jessica Alba) and her new boyfriend the greedy business man Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon) and her brother Johnny Storm (Chris Evans).

There is a nice sequence where the Thing keeps a truck from falling off a bridge, but you see one truck saved from falling off a bridge, you've seen them all.
However, something goes wrong! *gasp* Danger Mr Robinson! This massive dust cloud turns on stealth mode and pops up right under their ass! BLAM CRASH UH OHH MEOWWWW as the space station gets devoured like mice to a banana dipped in honey. They all wake up later in the hospital and find out they have superpowers! Fancy that. |
The good scientists try to reverse the effects of these kick-ass super powers while Mr. Von Doom tries to take over the world (what else would you do with a name like that, oh you cant see it coming either!).
Amazing special effects, realistic and amazing sound, a few corny one liners and sexy Alba taking off her clothes (numerous times!) follow.
I felt there was great character development between most of the crew as the movie progresses.
What i really enjoyed about this film was how it looked at the personal lives of each of them, |
their home/lab/mansion and how they cope with the new powers, not just hey lets crush buildings and rape virgins.
One major plus to this movie is the prior knowledge required to enjoy it, none! I think that this is one of the major points that makes or breaks a comic-made-movie film, your view on whether or not the characters are believable and you can feel their feelings and think their thoughts without reading the comics or any prior knowledge. And I believe that Fantastic 4 did these perfectly. |

Believable characters and situations (given the context), great action, hot cast members, (Alba <3) Amazing special effects and a hint of 'laugh out loud' humor makes this a top grade movie in my books and I encourage everyone who has some loose change (or broadband) to see this.
