Doom 3 Resurrection
Well, we finally made it! Kicked all those demons off mars, drove me back to hell, and now all is safe in the universe once more. No wait, I spoke to soon. It seems we've unearthed an ancient evil artifact that reopens the plane gate to hell and well, you guessed it, all hell is about to break loose again. Literally.
Turn of the lights, crank up that SoundBlaster live and fine tune that mouse. You’re not done with doom yet bub. Oh, did I mention to say your prayers and grab a crucifix? Add a floating heart that slows time (among other things) a nice double barreled shotgun and plenty of nightmarish graphical tweaks, and we're back in business
One of the first things I noticed about this game is, it slips right in with the first on a graphical content level. Stunning to say the least.
Now don’t try to run this baby on your dads old 333mhz IBM, it aint gonna happen. Without some major tweakin the graphics in this game can cause even some of the burliest graphics cards to skip a beat or two. Aside from the graphics, game play is pretty straightforward.
Aiming has received a nice tweak and upgrade, causing the projectile weapons to receive a nice aiming improvement, but very little splash damage, unless you unload a clip from your assault rifle into a demons head, 1 clip just aint gonna kill anything..
Now I’ll warn you, some parts of this expansion can be excruciatingly long and tedious. Enter > Lose the Lights> Kill Everything > Rinse > Repeat. Some other areas seem to be over way to fast. It’s the off balance style that ID likes to throw at its customers that keep us suckers coming back for more
. If you're a fan of the original DOOM 3 then this expansion is not to be missed, its scary, at times brilliant, dark, depressing, and filled with a sick morbid feel of the world closing in on your lone marine who carries a demon heart with him as a pal. Overall I’m gonna go high with this one and give it an 8/10.
